In this facial cosmetic treatment, damaged and blemished superficial layers of skin are removed thereby restoring a softer glow with the growth of smoother and more youthful appearing skin. This procedure lessens or completely removes signs of aging - superficial wrinkles in particular. In addition to laser skin resurfacing, other treatment options include Microdermabrasion, fruit acid peels and chemical peels. As we age, the effects of the sun, wind, time and hormones are seen in the skin as the collagen beneath the skin wears away. Surface irregularities such as brown skin discolorations also occur. Two types of wrinkles affect the skin, static and dynamic. Dynamic wrinkles are the lines that form from smiling, squinting and frowning. Static wrinkles are the wrinkles that remain even when the face is relaxed. Examples of static wrinkles are the fine wrinkles seen around the corners of the eyes and the vertical lines above the lips. The MiXto SX Micro-Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment
The MiXto SX Micro Fractional CO2 laser has significantly less down time than the traditional CO2 laser. The traditional CO2 laser removes the top layer (or resurfaces) 100% of the skin to being treated, which results in a longer healing time and can cause long-term redness (up to 3 months). The Micro Fractional laser means that only a fraction of the skin is treated. Since bridges of healthy skin are left in between the treated areas, the downtime is significantly less. Micro Fractional does not mean fractional results. The science behind this technology allows for significant improvements comparable to traditional CO2 laser. MiXto SX Micro Fractional CO2 laser is a single treatment that delivers more dramatic results than typical non-ablative lasers or procedures which require a series.
The Erbium Laser for Laser Skin Rejuvenation The Erbium laser is our preferred laser for skin resurfacing. This laser produces less heat and is considerably gentler to the skin than other resurfacing lasers. Treatment with the Erbium laser stimulates the production of collagen which results in a tightening and smoothing of the skin. Most people are able to return to their normal activities in about one week after laser skin resurfacing. During this period, topical ointments are applied to allow the skin to heal as soon as possible. Make-up can usually be worn one week later.
