A personal note from Dr. A. Prasad:
Start 2009 looking rested and refreshed! It happens to all of us! Sometimes it's hereditary. Other times it's just our age catching up with us. But sooner or later, we notice puffiness under our eyes, or droopier, heavier lids than we had just a few years ago. If you're tired of everyone asking you if you're tired, then rejoice in the fact that you can start 2009 looking refreshed and rejuvenated.
A simple lower or upper eyelid surgery can erase years from your appearance. The procedure is outpatient, done without general anesthesia, and will help you feel even better about yourself when you look in the mirror! I am proud to have a very long list of happy, satisfied eyelid surgery patients. Please feel free to call me at 516.742.4636 or 212.265.8877 for an appointment. By the way, I believe that in today's competitive marketplace, it's more important than ever to look our best. Whether we like it or not, we are often judged by our appearance and first impressions mean a lot whether you're on a job interview or on a first date!
Question: I am generally a happy person, but because of the shape of my eyes, I always look sad. The corners of my eyes turn downward and the whites of my eyes show all the way around my eyeballs. Is there any easy way to fix this? Barbara, Cold Spring Harbor, NY Dr Prasad: It sounds like you may have what is known as eyelid retraction. The skin on your lower lid can be lifted slightly to cover the whites under your eyeballs and the outer corners of your eyes can be "reshaped" to have a more almond look to them, which most people find attractive and exotic. Question: My daughter is 16-years old and feels very self-conscious about her nose. Is she too young for a nose job? Lynn, Dix Hills, NY Dr. Prasad: By the time, a child reaches 16 or 17 years old, their nose has fully matured. Therefore, most 16-year-olds are old enough for a nose job, or Rhinoplasty. In fact, a Rhinoplasty can raise your teen's self-esteem significantly, which is of course, very important during the teen-age years. Question: Can liposuction be used to remove fat I have under my chin? Elaine, Glen Cove, NY Dr. Prasad: I use a technique called Cool Liposuction, which is very effective for eliminating fat on small areas such as under your chin. Cool Liposuction uses a laser to liquefy the fat so that it can be removed easily and with less trauma to the body. In addition, the Cool Lipo Laser actually tightens the skin around the area being treated for a firm, smooth chin and neck. Many of my patients see a great result from Cool Lipo of the chin and neck area.
