Eyelid Surgery Types

Upper eyelid surgery is often the answer to help your outward appearance match the image you see of yourself in your mind's eye. Centuries of poets have waxed prolific about the many properties of a person's eyes. They have written that the most trustworthy communication must be transmitted by the eyes. Imagine, then, what it must be like to wake up one morning and find that the person reflected in the mirror looks angry, stern or really tired while you still feel like your bright and energetic self.

Lower eyelid surgery is often the long-awaited solution for those who believe that looking older is not welcome in most people's social lives. If you are "starting over" or getting back into the dating scene, it's common to become extra self-conscious about your looks and the age-related changes you see. Major life events such as weddings may motivate you to seek lower eyelid surgery to finally have the appearance you see in your mind's eye be reflected in your mirror.

The specific reasons for eyelid rejuvenation are varied but it can be said that every man and woman that opts for eyelid rejuvenation chooses to look and feel better about their appearance. After years of doing and caring for others, men and women come to realize that it's time to do something that is just for their own benefit.

Eyelash transplants help restore eyelashes that are not only a crucial element to an attractive appearance but are also necessary for the protection of our eyes. Eyelashes define the eyes and add to the attractiveness of the face. When you blink or close your eyes, your eyelashes form a beautiful crescent that rests on the lower lid. But on a more practical note, eyelashes keep out dust and dirt. When a gnat flies towards you and you blink, the reflex shuts your eyes while the lashes create a line of defense before the lids.

Eyebrow transplants may be more important than you think! While we don't usually think of eyebrows and lashes as vital parts of the face, missing or thinning eyebrows take away from its expressiveness.

Tear trough implants are used in a procedure done to correct a condition known as Tear Trough Deformity and/or to eliminate dark circles under the eyes. In a majority of older patients, the protruding eyelid skin and fat of their lower eyelids cast shadows that accentuate dark circles under their eyes. Tear Trough Deformity is a depression of the medial lower eyelid where it meets the cheek. With aging the dark circle under the eye becomes deeper, longer and runs down and out into the cheek. It is called the Tear Trough Deformity because tears run into the dark circle and out to the side of the cheek, instead of rolling straight down the cheek as they do when children cry. For some people it is a small groove and for others it is extremely deep. The condition tends to worsen with age and is often hereditary. For many people the dark circles under the eyes associated with Tear Trough Deformity is their major complaint.
